Back in the day if your friends or fellow pub goers knew you were heading to France (from the UK) you'd get a shopping list of duty free items to pick up for them.
You'd also pick up a few extra duty free items to make a quick quid.
"Yes Mr Customs, those 200 packs of Golden Virginia are for personal use.....".

Does anyone find this is still a viable thing to do?

Our pound seems stronger against the euro so there must be some saving to be had.

Any one have any funny stories of a cruise?
I'm sure there must be something similar between Mexico and the US?

This thing is HUGE in Europe now, even if duty free doesn't exist between EU countries anymore. The frenchies living close to the border go to Andorra or Spain to get their alcohol/smokes cheap. The people in the north flock to Estonia for cheap stuff. I haven't heard of this happening too much between UK and France... but I'm sure there is still some savings to be had with some products.
